Hallo!

My husband and I took a personal camping safari with BaseCamp. Thomas was the guide and Hamis the cook. When moving from one campsite to another, Hamis also helped with spotting. Both had an incredible amount of knowledge to share at any time. Sometimes I felt as if they were 'part' of this specific land, as were the trees, animals, and so on. This is hard for me to explain. There just HAS to be a better word than "excellent" for these two wonderfully kind, thoughtful and intelligent men. On top of that, Achmed Phillips, the owner, insisted on speaking with us before we embarked on our safari – to ensure we were comfortable - and checked with us again, upon our return. At the end of the safari, I wanted to shop for a specific non 'tourist tacky' item, that would definitely say Tanzania for myself and friends, once home. Achmed’s lovely wife insisted she offer her personal time. She took me all about, and ensured that I received good prices and good quality.

The URL I have provided is from the Lonely Planet where I have been posting for many years. It is the first part of my 2-month journal. I have now posted Part 4. Part 6 will be the start of my personal camping safari - and I will have posted it by May 15. Any questions, please do not hesitate to E-Mail me.
