We are 99% certain that John, our safari guide with Crown Eagle, was in on us being robbed at the Colobus Mountain Lodge by/with their staff there. I'll spare you the strange details, but there is no question that he participated in us being robbed by the staff (in our hotel room). I would recommend you stay clear of this guide and Crown Eagle who, after we had notified them of the robbery after we had left the lodge, told us we could not go back and that they did not have a telephone there by which we could contact them.... (huh???). Avoid this safari company.

Comment:
Guide knew hardly anything about wildlife. Vehicle was in bad shape, swaying from left to right all the time, even on flat asphalt road, and engine stopped a few times in middle of game park (luckily started again after about 20 minutes). Tents were old and zippers didn't close well; sleeping bags were old and smelly (but free of charge). I marked 'good service' because they accepted travellers cheques as payment (without extra fees or commission) and let me use a sleeping bag for free. The cook was excellent.
